In October Fisher-Price will release their long awaited E-Reader / Slate PC aimed at Kids under 8 for around $79.99.
Fisher Price will join other E-Readers already on the market such as the V.Tech V Reader and the Aiptek Story.
The IXL opens and closes similar to a Nintendo DS or an Entourage Edge. The Screen is around 5 inches and features a full color touch screen.
The Fisher-Price IXL is a learning device and has more functionality then its competition. It has built in applications for music, reading, drawing, handwriting and creating art. It comes with a Stylus so you can use that to interact with it. The device also has orientations, such as landscape mode.
The Chassis of the device is hardened plastic, which means it will be very durable. It comes with a SD slot to load additional content on and you can transfer ebooks you purchase from the Fisher-Price store to your IXL via USB cable. It is also compatible with both MAC and PC’s.
The Device will be available around October or November in time for the Christmas holiday season, retailing for around $79.99 and each E-Book CD will cost around $24.99.
