Google Play Books for the iPad has been updated today to version 1.3.0 and brings a slew of new features (I can honestly say the name Play Books sounds really weird and I wish the name of the app remained Google eBooks). Despite the wacky naming convention, you definitely want to install this upgrade ASAP!
One of the new functions that is sure to enrapture the avid Google + crowd is the addition of being able to +1 popular books. This will be added to your profile page and you can show others what you are reading. Text translation is also a new feature that will allow you to highlight a single word or a complete sentence into over fifty different languages. Speaking of highlighting, you have a new color palette to change the tone of the highlights in your book and also look words up via Wikipedia.
Finally, there is a new bookmarking feature that will allow you to tap the upper right hand corner. This will obviously make it much easier for you to know where you left off, especially if you are currently reading multiple books.
