Amazon recently added the ability for users to disable the touchscreen on the second generation Kindle Oasis. This is tremendously useful for people who want to exclusively rely on the manual page turn buttons.
In order to disable the touchscreen you need to have an e-book open and click on the three bars on the top righthand corner. There is an option that says disable touchscreen, when you select this option a small box appears the first time you do it, giving you some information. Once the touchscreen is disabled you will only be able to use the page turn buttons, however the gyroscope continues to work.
When you want to have the touchscreen activated again simply press the power button to put the Oasis into sleep mode. When it wakes up you will have all of the touchscreen capabilities back again. We made a handy video that outlines all of this.
