We just caught wind that the iRiver Cover Story has passed the FCC and might be coming our way in the first quarter of 2011.
The iRiver Cover Story a followup to the iRiver Story e-reader, which has been out for awhile. We first caught wind of the iRiver Cover Story at IFA this year and gave it a full preview. The new one is wireless and has a 6 inch touch screen, with a resolution of 800×600. There is a built in accelerometer that ensures the display changes orientation automatically as the e-reader is flipped around. The e-reader also incorporates a stylus that can also be used to make on-screen inputs. Finally it has around 2 GB of internal space and can read ePub, PDF, FM2, TXT, HWP, DOB, PPT and XLS. The audio files MP3 and WMA will also be decoded by the new e-reader.
The iRiver Cover Story is new to the USA, but has been on sale in the United Kingdom for £179 since September. We have also heard reports of it in China as well.
