A few days ago Kobo ushered in a new way to do business online via PAYPAL. This makes paying for ebooks, e-readers, screen protectors, and other items much easier online. This is true especially for the European and international market where PAYPAL is one of the only viable payment options.
Kobo has been dealing with credit cards and online gift cards for some time. Giftcards were the safest way to do business via the website, but now with the integration of PAYPAL this all changes. Many customers enjoy the freedom of dealing with a non-credit card entity for a myriad of reasons. Some have poor credit, safety concerns, or live in a country where they are harder to get.
There are some drawbacks with this new system. At this time, PayPal is available for purchases made through Kobo.com. The PayPal payment option currently is not available within Kobo eReader applications for smartphones, tablets, or desktop devices. Kobo has told us that they are working on this as a viable option, but nothing has been 100% confirmed yet.
