Kobo today released an updated version of its Android Application and one of the biggest new features is being able to read NON-DRM ePub eBooks, giving you an alternative to buying them directly from Kobo.
The ability to read ePub eBooks – currently are the most popular format on the internet – is great! The fact that Kobo will allow you to use its eBook reading application to read books not purchased from Kobo is a big deal. This means, that if you download books from the internet or other stores such as Smashwords, it allows you can side load in books and make Kobo your default reading app. Although you can only read NON-DRM books right now, its still a great upgrade.
The Android Market is quite lacking for quality ebook reading applications, and the new update from Kobo is a welcome edition.
You can download the Kobo Android Application right HERE, just make sure you have Google Android 1.6 or greater on the device you are installing it on.
