Kobo had a strong presence at the recent Teen Choice Awards, which honors sports, movies, music, and TV. One of the benefits from celebrities of attending events like these are the free gifts normally given out. Kobo decided to give away a ton of its e-Readers to the stars in attendance.
Canadian based Kobo was one of the first companies ever to give away an electronic book reader to the stars attending the Teen Choice Awards 2011. The main benefit was getting pictures and testimonials from them to use in advertising. One of the big facets the e-reader industry lacks is star power support. Hopefully, with giving a few gadgets away, it might facilitate some of the celebs doing a commercial or two down the road.
Fancia Raisa, who appears on the The Secret Life of the American Teenager, said “This is perfect. I read a lot. I’ll use it all the time.” While Zack Filkkins of One Republic said, “This is great. I feel like I just got smarter.”
