There is a new color e-reader on the block powered by a Rockchip 2729 that will allow the device to display 16.7 million colors! It will also have a seven inch screen displaying 800×480 pixels. Of course this is a color e-reader not using e-ink but an LCD based screen.
This e-reader is going to marketed at very casual users with a fresh design and many different buttons to navigate the menu system. Obviously eBook reading is a huge process on this new gadget and it will be able to read TXT, FB2, ePub, PDF, HTML, DOC and PDB. Although there is no word yet of content distribution and how the company intends on delivering new books to your device, with all of these supported formats you should be able to load in your own books very easily.
This e-reader is being billed as a multi-media device as well as an e-reader so you can get video and audio going on it as well. It actually supports many different video codecs then many other tablets and e-readers on the market. It currently will support AVI, FLV, RMVB, RM, 3GP, MP4, DAT, VOB, MPG, MPEG, MOV and will support subtitled videos as well.
Surprisenly this e-reader supports many different audio formats as well such as FLAC which is the format of choice for lossless. It also does Mp3, WAV, and many more.
The Qumo Fresh will come in two different colors and will have two different versions in terms of memory. One version will have 4 GB and the other will have 8GB of internal memory. You may also enhance your device via the MicroSD card up to 16 GB.
No word yet if the Qumo Fresh will see any kind of release out of Russia which is their main market, but only time will tell.
