The Kobo Clara HD will be available in the first week of June and we have conducted a very comprehensive hands on review of this new e-reader. Many people are unaware that this device has a rapid page turn engine, which allows you to quickly turn the pages of an ebook.
This new system is great on the Clara HD is phenomenal. Rapid page turns are enabled by default, but you can turn it off by going to settings menu. In order to quickly turn pages simply tap your finger rapidly on the screen or gesture and it will turn the pages quickly. You can also hold your finger down on the screen and it will rapidly flip the pages. The text is basically unreadable when the the pages are being rapidly turned, will have to release your finger from the screen in order for everything to be fully rendered.
The rapid page turn engine works with KEPUB ebooks, which are books you have purchased directly from Kobo. It does not support CBR/CBZ, which means it is incompatible with manga. You cannot sideload in your own ebooks and rapidly turn the pages.
