You can no longer download your Kindle books from the Amazon website after the February 26 deadline for the same. Amazon sure had announced well in advance, which means there was ample time for all to download all your purchased Kindle books. Downloading the books also isn’t an absolute necessity so it is perfectly okay if you don’t do it. However, there are many who’d like to have complete control over the books they have purchased and wish to store the same in their local storage.

Just in case you have missed the deadline, the thing to note is that it still is possible to download all the books that you have purchased from Amazon. As the e-Book Reader Blog mentioned, there is no guarantee the methods outlined here are going to be effective. That said, it still is worth trying. Read on.

One way you can get your books is via the Kindle e-reader. Download the books to your Kindle device and then transfer those to your computer via a USB cable. Needless to say, the books thus downloaded are going to be DRM-protected though you can use the DeDRM plugin in Calibre to strip off the DRM layer. You can also convert the books to any other format that you feel is going to be convenient for you using Calibre.

Another way you can download the e-books is by using an older version of Kindle for PC. For instance, you can download Kindle for PC 2.4. Thereafter, you can use Calibre along with the DeDRM plugin to remove the DRM layer. You can then convert the book into other formats such as ePUB which is compatible with most other e-readers or other devices.

You will also need the KFX Input plugin in Calibre. However, this won’t be needed if you are using an older version of Kindle where the e-books are delivered in non-KFX formats like AZW3. Once you have the books in Calibre, you can arrange or store them the way you want. It is going to be all yours.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
