Welcome back to another Good e-Reader Video Comparison! Today we check out the primarily differences between the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite and the iPad 3 with Retina Display! This is not a video that compares ecosystems, music, video, and everything else. Instead we focus on the core reading experience and what you can expect from both devices.
There is a huge fundamental difference between an e-ink based reader and an LCD based tablet. e-Readers are naturally a bit easier on the eyes during longer reading sessions and still have the ability to surf the internet and visit popular websites. Tablets give you the same options to tweak fonts, line-spacing, margins, and backgrounds. You can also adjust the brightness level to suit most lighting conditions. Speaking of lighting, the Kindle Paperwhite is one of the first mass-market e-readers to give front-light technology. Instead of the light coming from behind the screen like tablets, it projects the light from inside the bezel on top of the screen.
