Amazon and Samsung are two very unlikely bedfellows but the two companies have been working together for a number of years. It all started when Samsung axed their longstanding Readers Hub, which contained a myriad of e-reading apps, including the e-book store that Samsung was running themselves. Samsung decided to establish ties with Amazon and had the Seattle company develop a specialized version of their app, which was exclusive for Samsung devices. Kindle for Samsung not only lets you tap into the Amazon ecosystem to purchase content but they provide four free e-books a month and users can select one to own. It looks like Amazon and Samsung are expanding on their relationship and giving away a one year Prime membership to new Samsung smartphone owners.
US telecom carrier Sprint is giving away one year of Amazon Prime to those who pick up a qualifying Samsung smartphone throughout November. The offer applies to all of Samsung’s latest flagships, including the Galaxy S6 series and the Galaxy Note 5.
One year of Prime is usually priced at $99, and it gives you free two-day shipping on more than 20 million items, movie and TV show streaming via Prime Video, music streaming via Prime Music, unlimited photo storage with Prime Photos, and a free e-book every month.
Unfortunately, you can’t just pick up any Samsung device to take advantage of this offer, so if you’re a budget smartphone buyer, you’re going to miss out. Eligible handsets include the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, and the Galaxy Note 5.
