Here’s something that will cheer up those who were lamenting the lack of 3G option in the iPad. For the 3G enabled iPads will makes its debut on the 30th of this month. This is also in line with what Apple had promised earlier that such iPad would be available from the end of April.
The iPad now available are good enough to access the internet over only a Wi-Fi connection. The new 3G enabled iPads will be WiFi ready while also having the capability of accessing the net through the 7.2 Mbps AT&T’s mobile broadband network.
However, the added 3G functionality comes at a premium since the base 16 GB version of the iPad will have a price tag of $629 while the 32 GB iPad will cost $729. The top of the line 64 GB iPad will set you back by a cool $829. User though can bring down the cost by $130 by letting go of the 3G facility.
However, that’s not all as users willing to tap into AT&T’s network can opt for the 250MB plan that costs $14.99 or a month long unlimited data plan that costs $29.99. The service will be pre-paid on the slate and won’t require any contracts to be signed. Also, all users will be able to access AT&T’s Wi-Fi hotspots for the duration during which customers have a valid 3G plan.
Customers who have already placed orders for the 3G iPad will be able to lay their hands on these iPad from Apple stores where these will be available from 5 in the evening of the 30th of April. Also any new pre-orders placed now will only be delivered from the 7th of May.
However, users will not be able to make vice calls with the 3G enabled iPads. This in spite of the 3G iPads being compliant with the cellular-wireless data standard HSPA.
