Acer has been a busy beaver lately with a wide array of new devices coming out in the near future. It was only earlier this month that Acer debuted the Lumiread E-Reader at IFA, now it seems Acer is working on 3 different Android tablets, featuring Android 3.0
Acer is working on three different models featuring different screen sizes. They seem to be doing a 5 inch version, a 7 inch one, and a super-sized 10.1 inch model.
Acer’s mentality with the 5 inch model is similar to the Dell Streak, where it bridges the gap between tablet and smart phone.
Digitimes reported that Acer is in negotiations with two different companies for the manufacturing and hardware logistics. Both Compal Electronics and Quanta Computers are in the race for the contract. We would lean more towards Quanta, as they have an established track record of making higher end components for different tablets. As far as processors go, Acer is tossing around both the Snapdragon and Nvidia Tegra two processor
By the end of the year, Acer will be dipping its toes into the water of the Tablet PC sector with the i86 Windows 7 tablet.
