The Italian design house Alessi has a better presence in the field of kitchenwares. But it seems they do not wish to remain content with just that and their recent unveiling of an android based Tablet PC at an Italian design fair is prove enough of it.
As per news currently available, the Tablet PC has been designed by Stefano Giovannoni while Promelit has been entrusted with giving final shape to the PC for Alessi and boasts of a built in WiFi capability and digital TV. It might be mentioned here that the SFR Hubster and the AlessiPhone too has been made by Promelit.
A unique aspect of the Alessi touchscreen PC is its charging dock on which the PC can be placed at a low screen angle for charging. Or you can disconnect it and turn it around if you want to view the PC at a steeper angle. The stand is housed in the front end of the Tablet, which is also the place where speakers, the USB and SD card slot, WiFi antenna as well as a HDMI is located.
Company claims a battery life of up to 6 hours between full charges. Being the makers of kitchenwares, the AlessiTab is likely to be used as a kitchen countertop tablet where cooking videos can be viewed while Android recipe apps too can be availed of.
Apart from this, the AlessiTab will also function as a regular Tablet PC, which means you can check Facebook and Twitter while also surfing the Net. AlessiTab is also likely to be equally efficient as a media player that will have weather forecast abilities too.
Company sources revealed that the AlessiTAB is will most probably hit the market on September 2010 and will be priced competitively at around €300 which comes to about $403.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
