The original Blackberry Playbook has received a firmware update today but it is not the OS 2.1 update we have all been waiting for. This new firmware is the exact same one that will come bundled on the new new Playbook 4G/LTE model due out August 9th.
One of the drawbacks of the latest update is mainly USA users are getting it right now. It seems many Canadians are getting upgraded from 2.1.0.560 beta to 2.1.0.560. If you are unsure about what version you are getting right now, the full version is over 300 MB and will give you Mobile Network Warnings.
No word on the changes yet, but seems to be basic maintenance type stuff. Some users have written in and said the Web browser seems quicker and more responsive. Flash and Adobe Air also saw a minor upgrade too! Finally many users are reporting that WIFI is more responsive. Lots had one or two bars inside their house and are seeing elevated connection levels.
