The Boogie Board LCD tablet from Improv Electronics is an amazing piece of hardware. Its cheap, versatile and highly practical. It was also seen at the CES this year, holding on to its own amidst the plethora of tablets that were unveiled at the premier show. Its simplicity made it to stand out from the rest while every other tablet relied on tech wizardry to win over consumer heart and minds. What’s more, the same device in several attractive color options had made the LCD writing tablet even more endearing.
However, it was only the Americans that till now formed its user base and needless to say, they formed a highly satisfied lot. Now Europeans too are all set to have a taste of the Boogie Board from this spring for just 40 Euros. Improv Electronics has also announced there will be two more color options in the form of a gold and silver colored Boogie Boards. However, though the price of the Boogie Boards has been made known, the company though is yet to come up with the writing tablet’s release dates.
A great substitute for paper writing pads, the Boogie Board incorporates pressure sensitive LCD panels from Kent Displays. Apart from its ease of use, one of the biggest advantages of the Boogie Board writing tablets is its extremely frugal battery requirements. It can retain what is written on it with the attached stylus for an indefinite period of time (theoretically at least). An erasing operation does require power but here too, its too miniscule. So not only does it help save a lot of trees from the chopping blocks but draws very little resource for its operation. Simply great during the time of environment consciousness.
However, the Boogie Board will soon have competition from the Neoslate e-Paper Writing Tablet that too promises to be just as good as the Boogie Board. It will be interesting to see what comes out the Boogie Board vs Neoslate contest.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
