At the Mobile Asia Conference a new Tablet PC by BYD pushes the boundaries of mobile computing with the Android 2.2 driven Alice.
It features 1 GB of internal RAM and a Micro SD card slot, so you can pump up to 32 GB into the unit for expanded memory. It also includes HDMI, WI-FI, and a webcam for video conferencing.
You can switch between landscape and portrait mode with the built in accelerometer and this unit gives you about eight hours of battery life.
Although BYD will not ship this unit out to a tablet hungry public, instead they hope to find a distributor or partner to co-brand with it. I guess for now, we will have to be content with the Apple iPad and the Samsung Galaxy Tab for our tablet computer needs for the holidays.
