We all know the Tablet PC space is increasingly becoming more competitive as more people rush to take advantage of customer demand, many manufacturers are working on dual core processors to increase hardware performance. In 2011 at CES we will see more tablets having multi-core processors and with that technology underneath the hood, the question on thermal heating and overheating of the tablets will become an issue. Quanta Computer and Compal Electronics are developing tablet computers with thermal modules and/or PC fans in order to disperse heat better.
Industry leaders in Asia are reporting that 20-30% of all tablet PC’s currently under development will either have thermal or fans added to the devices. Although sources say that it will still be awhile before any of these new tablets will hit the market.
While CPUs used in tablet PCs with cooling devices are still unclear, the sources believe that makers who are able to roll out micro fans are likely to land orders from ODMs.
