A 7 inch Galaxy Tab trying to make things that bit more difficult for the mighty iPad is OK but what about a true blue Android tablet that can take on the iPad and matches up to the Apple tablet inch for an inch. Well, this is exactly what the new 10 inch Ziio tablet from Creative is out to do and it might not be too far away to actually witness the Ziio 10 vs iPad battle being fought out in the markets world wide. But the question remains as to which iPad it wishes to take on considering the next gen iPad too is gearing up for a launch towards the beginning of the new year.
Meanwhile, while we will wait for that to unravel, let’s delve a bit into whatever little that is available of the upcoming Ziio 10 tablet though unfortunately, the Ziio 10 can’t boast of a sparkling spec sheet just yet. Like its got a 10 inch resistive touch screen upfront when a capacitive interface could have made things that much more convenient. Display resolution stands at 1024 x 600 pixels while the tablet runs Android 2.1 when its Android 2.3 Gingerbread that’s currently available and its Android 3.0 Honeycomb that we are looking forward to.
On board storage with the Ziio 10 is either 8GB or 16 GB and includes a few other goodies like a front facing VGA camera, HDMI out port, b/g WiFi and Bluetooth. Also a unique aspect with the Ziio 10 is the Pure Android Audio widget, one of Creative’s own development that the tablet comes with. The widget enables one to use the Ziio 10 as a music hub that can stream audio to other external wireless devices while also allowing Bluetooth audio connections access for audio pairing.
Lastly, while there isn’t any news of when the Ziio 10 can be expected to enter markets, we have an inkling of what it might cost once it does. Like the 8GB version of the ZiiO 10 will cost €299.99 while the same with 16GB of storage has been priced at €319.99. The costs in equivalent US dollar terms work out to about $475 and $507 respectively.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
