The Dasung Paperlike 103 first broke onto the scene about a month ago. However, its availability has so far been restricted to only within China. That seems set to change as the E Ink monitor is getting ready for an international debut soon. The Paperlike 103 has kickstarted its crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo though, as Notebookcheck reported, key details are still missing. For instance, the company is yet to reveal pricing or shipment dates. It sells in China for around $270.
The Paperlike 103 comes with a 10.3-inch E Ink display a 1,872 x 1,404 pixels resolution and a 4:3 aspect ratio. The size might be small for use as a monitor but that also makes it quite portable and handy. You can easily carry it in your backpack for use just about anywhere. It supports plug-and-play connectivity and can be easily connected to your laptop or smartphone. Made of CNC-crafted aluminum shell, the monitor offers excellent durability while exuding a sense of style and purpose.
However, what can be considered the biggest USP of the monitor is its 60 HZ refresh rate which is easily the highest ever to be recorded on an E Ink device. That brings it on par with LCD displays and should be able to support smooth page scrolling or even fast mouse movements. This is several times faster than the usual 10-12 Hz refresh rate that E Ink display traditionally offers, thereby allowing for a smooth playback of video files.
All of this makes the Paperlike 103 suitable for almost anything that you can think of. That includes web browsing, reading, writing, document editing, writing codes, drawing, sketching, and so on. The E Ink display makes it extremely soothing to the eyes and is perfectly readable even in direct sunlight. Similarly, the built-in front light enables the display to be used even in the dark.
Stay tuned for more on this.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
