Here is some good news for all existing and would be owners of the Streak tablet from Dell. The OS update to the latest Android 2.2 Froyo can now be expected to drop sometime soon, which stems from two interesting developments. First, Dell has already has units of the Streak with the Froyo update already in shipping units in Japan. It will be available to the market there early December 2010.
The Streak currently is based on Android 1.6 which has put the tablet smartphone combo a few steps behind the other Froyo running slates that have taken the market by storm.
The second indication of the impending Froyo update is the availability of the Backup and Restore app which Dell has developed in partnership with Nero and has launched for free on the Android Market. All current users of the Dell Streak can download the app free of cost and use it to backup their data before they choose to upgrade to Android 2.2.
Also, if you think that’s still not reason enough for you to go and grab a Streak, well Dell has gone ahead and brought down the price of Streak from a quite hefty £449 to only £399. The price is inclusive of VAT as well as all other applicable taxes though the above price reduction is only applicable in the UK.
In order Dell Streak news, it will be available in Canada for a few different vendors, including Rogers sometime in November. They will offer a 3 year contract for $149.99 and will offer the Streak straight up for $549.99.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
