Welcome to another Good e-Reader Giveaway and Contest! Today Skytex and Good e-Reader are offering one of our readers the new SkyPad Alpha Internet Tablet! To enter simply reply to this post and tell why you want to win this device or what you would use it for.

The SkyPad Alpha is an Android 2.3 driven Tablet PC and comes with many applications to get you started reading right away! Installed on the device is many eBook apps such as Kobo, Amazon, Alidiko, and Droid Comic Viewer! We also have the Amazon App Store and Getjar installed so  you can download a ton of applications the day you get it. We have also installed Adobe Flash on the device so you can take advantage of a full and rich internet experience.

    Due to some family health problems I had to get a second job working the night shift at a Hotel. I sit at the front desk for 8hrs almost completely alone and this thing would be a lifesaver. I’ve been dreaming of getting an e-reader but the finances never quite work out.

    I want to win this tablet because it would fill the “7” tablet niche that is currently missing in my collection (now consisting of a HP Touchpad and Kindle3).  As for how I would use it, I would use it to read EPUBs with Aldiko, browse the internet, stream Pandora,  and read articles saved to Instapaper using ?………….and watch some videos.

  • I’d try to port Honeycomb to this thing, and obviously I’d use it to read and watch movies.

    As I already read ebooks on the PC (unconfortable as it sometimes is), I’d use the SkyPad Alpha Internet Tablet especially for that, and most even to read comic books (which I love).
    Of course all the otehr features would be used, but mostly for reading books and comics.

    Main part of my job is to teach our customers (public library) new technology and especially e-readers/tablets.  It would definitely help to keep me up on the latest with Android has to offer.

  • I’m a small software developer and I’d love to have an Android tablet so I can properly develop and test some tools. Plus, it would sure be useful to have a tablet for reading PDFs and general surfing.

  • I’d love one of those, it would be handy to have about and a color screen would be fabulous for my cookbooks and knitting patterns.  Would also be helpful for some homeschool reading and interactive sites.

  • I’d really like to have a current, smaller screen, low-cost Android tablet to test and review library market ebook vendors. I currently work for a state library and am part of a group evaluating new vendors for public library ebook services.

    My wife and I have 7 kids, 5 of which are school-aged. We homeschool them all. They are all avid readers and enjoy learning in a variety of ways. We would incorporate this tablet into their schooling, using it for educational apps, research, and reading ebooks.

    As a lowly graduate student, I get a stipend of $36 a semester to print out articles. It works well for the most part, but I find myself carrying lots of pages everywhere and feeling guilty that I produce so much waste/recycling.
    I’d honestly mostly use the Skypad for some reading and taking notes. It’d be great to not have to keep saving money for a tablet.

  • My husband and I have been trying to focus on having less “stuff”.  This has been relatively easy to do…for the grown up stuff.  My kids, however (I have 2 year old twins) have an overwhelming number of things.  One of the big ones is books.  I would love nothing more than to be able to have a device that could hold all of their books in the way that our ebook readers have meant that hubby and I can carry a library in our pockets.  Imagine how simple it would be to pack a tablet stuffed with most of their books and have tons of reading on the go.  We usually hesitate to pack too many of their books when we travel because it just eats up the luggage space.   

    So, ultimately, I am not looking for a tablet for my own use…instead it would be for my children to learn a love of both minimalism  and reading no matter where we might go.   It is something that will serve them well as they grow up…their future friends and moving help should thank us for starting the ebook thing early – it will ultimately mean they won’t suffer like my friends have, through the years, when they would help me move the 23 boxes of books I used to own!

    I am an old age pensioner and I use internet from my desktop computer almost everyday. Until recently I thought that it is good enough for me forever. However, a few days ago I returned home from a fourteen days long tourist excursion in Kiev, where I was living in a hostel together with many young travelers and almost everybody of them had a portable computing device and made use of hostel’s WiFi. During my stay I had to ascertain and arrange a few things (e.g. rservation tickets) and I realized that if had such an electronic wizardry with me it would helped me much. This way I understood that it is time to get a “little brother” to my old good desktop.

    As a freedom-lover and therefore an Android enthusiast, I need to get this tablet. Otherwise, I’ll have to pay a thousand dollars for a good-looking iPad and be a slave of Apple.

    I want to win this tablet so that I can use it for ultra mobile applications like reading email (and other social media functions) , for reading my kobo and kindle books, for watching videos, and for playing the occasional games with my kids.

     I’d use the device to surf the internet from my couch during RAW so I could participate in the threads on the Board. Plus I could use it in the kitchen while trying new recipes (seriously).

    This would be a great device for my wife who is a photographer. She could use it as a portfolio so all of her images are in one place, and she doesn’t have to carry her computer around to bring around the images of her clients. This would work perfectly for that reason.

    I would like this tablet because I don’t have one! There are so many wonderful tablets displayed on this here website that I would like to obtain one in order to see what the fuss is all about.

    i’ve only used the sony e-reader, so while i’d use it mostly for books, i’d love to experience an android tablet with wifi!

    I am a navy pilot currently deployed.  We currently have to carry multiple publications, and the fluid characteristic of our schedule makes planning what to bring very difficult.  With a tablet I could carry all of my pubs digitally, and quickly search and study topics whenever I have a few moments of free time!  This tablet would be an invaluable asset to my life!

    I am Martian from Venus, working in the Iowa hog farming industry, and as such I am clearly in greater need of a low quality entry level resistive tablet, since it will better withstand trips out of the atmosphere or drops at the pig farmn

  • I want to win because I need a tablet to entertain my son.  Currently the family is sharing my NookColor (running CM7 Nightly 178), and I’m tired of it.  Been saving money for months for the next generation of tablets to come out, and it just seems to get farther and farther off…Meanwhile my NC is being dropped, sat on, and abused by my wife and four year old.  It’d be nice to have something I -don’t- have to worry about…..While I wait for the next big thing.

    All my life I’ve been a great lover of paper books. I’ve been EXTREMELY resistant to the very concept of them and reluctant to try them. I lost all my books in an apartment fire a few years ago, and I’ve been trying to replace my collection (with difficulty) ever since. I took the plunge and borrowed an eBook from my library this past weekend and read it on my laptop. I’ve since found even more ebooks, many of which I had lost in that fire. I am already reading my third ebook. If I had a Skypad Alpha, I could conveniently carry as many books as I wanted and could read them virtually anywhere. I would also buy a nifty bluetooth keyboard so I could work on my own novel while listening to music while I write. And with all of the Android Apps and internet, there’s really no limit to all the cool things I could do.

    I deserve one because…
    A. I don’t have an e-Reader right now and if I don’t get one soon, I’m going to have to sleep on a pile of books.
    B. My mom has cancer and I’m spending a considerable amount of time traveling back and forth across the country.

    I would like to win this device, because I miss my Pandigital E Reader. It ran Android 1.5 but thanks to the crack masters out there, I was able to change the reader into a decent, basic tablet.  I especially like the fact that flash can be installed on this device.  I could really use it at work and at home.  I love the fact that developers are making devices for those of us who can’t afford an I-pad or a laptop.  Thanks for your review, its a great help.

    I need this tablet because Android is the only thing going for me in my life right now, and my Nexus One is dying. Being currently unemployed due to the economy, I can’t afford any other type of anything, really. And Books are getting REALLY hard to read on my Nexus. Which is a problem because my girlfriend can’t see very well. :/

    There are quite a few books that are not sold anymore, that I cannot get access to except by reading
    on my laptop. I don’t know about you, but I find it really hard to read whole books by sitting in front
    of a computer. I would get so much from this and would love to have e-reading on the go with me. I don’t own any tiny electronic device, not even a cell-phone so would enjoy having this ever so much and would make such good use out of it. I am dreaming for the day I own one of these bad boys. 🙂

    I deserve it because while working for a major delivery company my plane crashed and I was stranded on a deserted island for four years with nothing to read. I nearly went crazy without my beloved classics to read and by the time I got back my fiance had married another man. The only solace i had was returning a gift wrapped package I had kept safe all those years, returning it to its rightful owner to only then discover that a fully charged SkyPad Alpha Tablet with the collected works of the great masters upon it was inside all that time. I can never get my time back but perhaps my life could once again have meaning with the cherished addition of the beloved and highly coveted SkyPad Alpha Tablet as my companion. It would also help to have something to read with all my upcoming dental work.

    My 9 year old daughter, Lil, has just caught the reading bug.  Unfortunately, her small frame cannot lug around all the books she wants to read, in her already heavy school bag.  An e-Reader would be the perfect solution, and would make sure that she isn’t walking with a crooked spine in 20 years.  All in all, sending me an e-Reader would put a big toothy grin on the face of a zealous young reader.

    I’ve read over 70 books since the first of the year.   I borrow paper-back books from the local HOA library. The selection is limited to what members have donated.    It would be a lot easier to hold an e-reader and being able to download free books from the city library via the Internet would be simple and the selection of titles much greater.  The SkyPad Alpha Tablet would be perfect for me.  Due to health limitations I mainly read books and watch TV for relaxation and would love to win the SkyPad Alpha Tablet .

  • I have been looking to find a good tablet to use as an e-reader for a while now. I would normally buy something to help me out, but I Just got married and we will be going on our Honeymoon before Christmas and I don’t think we will be able to afford one. I would use it to expand my knowledge by reading the many e-books I have purchased. I would like to learn more about my field without straining my eyes and my posture by staring at the computer screen!

    I am a great philosopher, who is on the verge of finally finding a universal construct for truth – all on my own, mind you!  I am sure that, if I only read a few hundred/thousand/million more books from the ancients, that I will finally fulfill the dreams of the Enlightenment greats.  But, alas, many of these are hard to find or out of print or just too expensive for a cheapo like me.  I need this tablet  World peace, universal love, and the outbreak of utopia depend on it!

    I really don’t know whether I deserve this or not. Here is my spill:

    I do a LOT of reading with my school work. I have to read a lot of PDF’s on a computer screen that’s pretty old (CRT) and it does hurt my eyes. But my eyes can survive, it would just make it SO MUCH easier if I had an eBook reader. Now, you might tell me that I can buy it on my own…nah it doesn’t work like that for me. My school gives me $200 or so for school supplies, that was only sufficient enough for a uniform and a pen and paper. I’m not over exaggerating. One thing I do hope is that I am able to read this blog on the SkyPad (Don’t think I can) because it would look much better on the SkyPad than this computer screen! So, to sum this up I really want to get flying colors with my grades, but am not physically capable of it because of having such a bad look computer monitor. Having the SkyPad would lift a very heavy weight off of my shoulders (and eyes). PLUS, I am a big tech enthusiast (although I don’t own any of it), and finally I would be able to show my buddies what I have. I can definitely get them to get one too, and that’d be awesome. But I won’t tell them about it unless I get one because they definitely have more money than me and if I mention it they’d buy one but I wouldn’t have one.

    I’m not begging for anything, just truthfully trying to qualify for this contest.

    And don’t worry, I know a LOT about the Android OS (used friends phones), so I can definitely use the SkyPad for all it’s designed for and capable of. It hurts me to see friends using Android devices like iPhones, only calling/texting, and using facebook. I try to tell them how much more it’s capable of and some of them let ME do it but they never want to use it correctly.

    To start out, I would like to thank you for your review of this tablet. I have been searching for an affordable tablet as a college student and was grateful to find this one along with your video showcasing the device. If I were to be selected to win this tablet, I would use it to prepare for my future vocation as a high school history teacher. Technology is changing the way we teach and I want tablets to be on this bandwagon. I would integrate my tablet by using it to showcase old history documents on a SMART Board, use it as a wireless writing tablet, and download many history apps to help my students love history rather than find it old and dusty. In addition, I would also use this tablet for taking notes in my college courses and getting on facebook every now and then (after class of course!). Thank you for this opportunity!

    i travel around the world on planes and it would be nice to have something to have tons of books on instead of using space in 9th grade my teachers would always say sand donavin u are a good reader and i still love reading. ive never had an ereader before and really want to try one plus the collage i will be going to in 2012 lets us use e-readers and kindles. but i usually end up reading 5 books in 3 weeks and would love to have this. thanks for the opertunity i am so excited.

    i am a traveler. i never read at home, but on the road, i am always
    reading. i read on busses, in airports, and early in the morning when i
    wake up`. i use old fashioned books and trade them with other
    travelers. i am always limited to what happens to be available, and in
    english, and often its somethign i would have no interest in. I have
    also learned that when reading a series, if you come across the next
    book, pick it up now, because when you want it, you wont find it.
    somehow i currently have books 2, 3 and 4 of game of thrones in my bag.
    but i havent found book 1 . my bag is heavy, and full of books. i need to
    win this prize!!!
