HP wants the term “HP Touchpad” and has started the legal wranglings in order to procure and trademark this phrase. So once that becomes a reality, the small touch sensitive area beneath the keypads of the laptops/netbooks/notepads that we have till now known as touchpads will have a new meaning. Chances are that the new range of tablet PCs that the Silicon Valley based manufacturers aims to pump out will be referred to as HP touchpad which if true will not be a bad thing considering they are now being referred to as webOS tablets.
However, the scope of the term HP Touchpad has been kept fairly wide in the patent filings so that it can be used to refer memory cards, telecommunications equipments, computer monitors and mobile digital electronic devices to mobile computers, handheld computers, portable computers, tablet computers, personal digital assistants, electronic organizers, computer memories, telephones, mobile telephones, pagers, smartphones, and videophones.
So it will be interesting to see just where HP Touchpad fits into among the maze of products mentioned above.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
