Employees of HP thronged the company site to pick up the super cheap TouchPad that the company had promised for them and lived up to its promise by keeping to schedule with its release today. Such was the clamor for the WebOS tablet that the site was slowed down to a crawl with customers in general and specifically HP employees logging into the site to place their order.
HP had promised every employee on its rolls one of these low cost tablets for the price as per the Employee Purchase Program or EPP. They have also placed fresh orders to the tune of a hundred to two hundred thousand of the TouchPads to let manufacturers make best use of the inventory that has piled up with them. As such, there was no need for the mad rush to have taken place but then perhaps everyone thought there might be not enough TouchPad tablet PCs to do the complete round of all employees.
Also, its not known as of now if any number of TouchPads has been set aside for the consumers at large though what is almost certain is that those TouchPads will also fly off in no time. However, given that HP has close to three hundred thousand employees world wide, there might not be much for the general public to savor this time. This until HP goes for another round of production which again is highly unlikely. There has been a change in leadership at HP and some believe there might be a change in company plans so that WebOS based hardware like the TouchPad might get to see the light of day once more. Then again, if that happens then what is a surety is that those won’t be made available at the highly discounted rates. In any case, there are close to a million of the TouchPad tablet PCs breathing all over the globe by now and the figure is impressive to say the least. What is also interesting is that TouchPads have almost become synonymous with mad rush behavior from consumers.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
