Motorola is in the process of readying a sequel to the original XOOM which it hopes will get the type of response it had expected with the first gen XOOM. The new XOOM though does not break any new grounds and is a lot similar to its predecessor but with more rounded edges this time.
Among the other changes the XOOM 2 will come with include a redesigned HD camera at the rear. These apart, other features that the leaked images reveal of the XOOM 2 include an HDMI and micro USB port, and a SIM card slot. There is also a camera at the front while the display is the same 10.1 inches. An SD card slot though remains missing while the XOOM 2 will not be shedding any weight. What the latter bit means is that the upcoming XOOM will be as heavy (or light) as the first gen iPad.
No word on what its internal will be like or what version of the Android operating system the new tablet will run. Some speculation here can be considered pretty safe though. Like Android Ice Cream Sandwich for the OS and quad core NVIDIA KaI EI processor.
Also its no secret the original XOOM suffered from lack lustre response and much of it had to do with its insanely high price tag than the capability of the tablet itself. Let’s hope better sense prevails over those that matter while pricing the XOOM 2. Or else, the sequel to the first tablet to sport Android Honeycomb might turn out to be another member of the flop tablet brigade.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
