Good news for users of the Motorola XOOM tablet PC! The SD card slot that until now only served to add cosmetic value to the tablet will now finally be useful. The SD card slot is now finally being brought to life via a software update. The new update in the form of Android 3.1 will be made available to those in Europe within the next few days. Those in the US already have the update, though unfortunately the SD card slot for them still has no functional value. Intriguing, how the same update is opening up the SD card slot for those in Europe while depriving Americans the same.
As a consolation, Motorola has said they are already engaged with Google to deal with the discrepancy so that the SD card slot on XOOMs everywhere lives up to its intended role.
