We have some new details regarding the new GUI and UI for HP’s brand new tablets they are going to unveil soon. According to PreCentral the other day they leaked the hardware specifications of the new HP Topaz tablet device. Today we have some juicy information on the user interface that the WebOS tablet uses, giving us an indication of the things to come. One thing that seems certain is that both the Topaz and the Opal Tablets are going to be pretty sweet.
So what is it that makes the new WebOS interface so special? Well, its a great combination of some advanced gesture and tap controls that almost makes the display to come alive. So with the usual scroll, tap, and pinch to zoom gestures that we have by now become familiar with, the WebOS UI has come to include; double tap, tap and drag, tap and hold, 2 finger tap, and 2 finger tap and drag along. However, there is no word yet as to what each of these gestures will yield.
Then there will also be pop-up text selection dialogues in response to certain gestures and will offer features like copy, paste and such. The most interesting improvement that the WebOS interface come with is perhaps the virtual keyboard, that looks just perfect for gaming applications. The virtual keyboard comes with a top toolbar that can be customized with a variety of functions such as; hide keyboard, jump between form fields and step through characters.
The good thing about all of these leaked documents is that HP is holding a press event on Feb 9th 2011 to reveal their new WebOS tablets.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
