Well, that’s what Notion Ink CEO Rohan Sharavan would like us to believe they are up to. And strange enough, he dismisses the November release date as something that’s not to be believed. This is surprising as this amounts to a complete ‘u’ turn on the tentative November launch date that was being speculated upon even a while ago. It was he himself who had said a few days ago in an e-mail to a concerned fan that investors are insisting on a Thanksgiving release. Surprising it might be but it sure is welcome if things indeed works out that way.
To begin with, in a recent post on the Notion Ink blog, it is being stressed upon that the final round of investment is over so that it will now be possible for the company to produce a hundred thousand of the Adams every month. What is also interesting is that apart from the two versions already announced, one more is being worked upon. So apart from a version that will come with an LCD screen and will be easier on the pockets, the other one will have the Pixel QI screen and will be pricier of the two. Also, apart from the Nvidia Tegra 2 platform that the Adam will be based on, a whole new platform is also being talked about which is turning out to be extremely power efficient and will be a lot cheaper as well. So the number of option with the Adam goes up as well.
Rohan also insisted that they have done some innovative thing on the e-mail front. “We have also done wonderful innovations on e-mail front. Something which might become the biggest differentiation for Adam,” is what he said while also revealing the SDK will be out soon. So its busy days ahead of developers.
However, while a release during thanksgiving in the US has been refuted, no particular mention has been made in the blog as to when is the earliest we can expect the tablet to enter market. Its only “We are on track” that has been revealed. So we can expect the tablet to be ready for a quarter 3 release as was envisioned earlier. Another theory doing the rounds is that it might be released in India first along with maybe a couple of countries before a world wide release. If this turns out to be true, then the Adam would make it to the market before the iPad in India. This will surely be an exciting scenario.
“Think it like this, iPad is still not launched in India, so would we say it has not launched yet! I know we live in a world which is not any more called Post-Cold war era, but a Globalized world, but still you can’t find one company which can launch its product in all the countries at the same time! Or at least we can’t. And if something breaks down, who are you going to call? (And there are more reasons why it is not possible),” is how Rohan puts it.
We will be watching the scene with keen interest and let you know of all the latest that is breaking out. Plus, you get all the newest e-reader news as well. So keep tuned to this place.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
