Dingleberry has now finally reached the public domain. Developed by Chris Wade, the tool will make it possible for one to root the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. Also, while DingleBerry is in its Beta stages, it still is capable of unlocking those features and capabilities of the PlayBook that otherwise remain out of bounds for general users. The application is right now only for Windows, with a Mac version expected soon.
The application utilizes a security lapse in the existing OS of the BlackBerry. The security hole becomes most susceptible when one is backing up or restoring data on the device. When this operation is being executed, the OS allows for files that have not been digitally signed to be loaded into the system. With RIM too being aware of this security hole, they surely are hot on the job to develop a fix to it. In fact, it had turned out into a race between RIM and Dinglberry as to who comes first and that the latter has won this round has made the entire thing all the more interesting.
As such, the entire thing has boiled down to this, those who plan to root their tablet so that they are able to make changes even after RIM issues their update, now is the only time. It would however mean breach of warranty clause and that is something that needs to be borne in mind while going for rooting procedure using Dingleberry. However, access to Hulu, Netfix and other such websites is still out of reach though Wade has said those will be take care of in a future update.
RIM has always been known for making some of the most secure devices. Also, since it caters primarily for the enterprise sector, they are taking the security breach in a serious manner. That they would be coming up with the fix quite soon is all too natural. Till then, it is Dingleberry time for anyone who is interested.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
