The new Android driven tablet by Pocketbook has just cleared the FCC and we gain a little bit of insight on the semantics of this new device.

Oleg Naumenko – Vice President of Pocketbook International has told us that there will be applications available, and we do have news they are working on porting over their own Android Application. There is no news on whether or not the full android market will be available.

Pocketbook drew allot of comparisons to the Pandigital Novel E-Reader; Reliable software, and the ability to display audio and video.

Although Oleg mentioned we should not expect miracles in software out of the gate, he did mention they had an extra 5 months in developing the firmware for the Pocketbook 701, so it gave them an adherent advantage in the stability of the firmware vs. the Pandigital Novel.

It will come out of the gates with Android 2.0 operating system with a planned launch of 2.2 in December of this year.

It looks like other then ebooks, Pocketbook is working on color multi-media content, such as Comic Books, Videos, and Audio Books.
