RIM ensured DingleBerry did not get the chance to make merry for too long. For no sooner had the DingleBerry app come into existence, RIM is back to seize the initiative with a fix that effectively plugs the hole that the DingleBerry developers had exploited to sneak past the PlayBook defenses. So those who had sought to gain root access to their PlayBook tablets, well RIM ensured they had less than a day to be adventurous with their devices.
The new RIM update should be available to all PlayBook owners within the next few days and being all of 5 MB, shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to install. However, apart from ensuring the PlayBook is no more prone to the DingleBerry app, the update version 1.0.8.6067 also ensures the PlayBook is at par with the latest versions of Adobe Flash and AIR. So if existing PlayBook users aren’t getting the update automatically, they can check the “Software Updates” section to do it manually. Meanwhile, those who have bought the PlayBook on or after December 5 will have the update pre-installed.
However, those who are keen to have root access to the PlayBook still have something to cheer. For DingleBerry is claiming the tablet can still be rooted by manually downgrading to an an older version of the PlayBook’s operating system so that the DingleBerry can make the most of the security lapse. However, if RIM has been smart enough to make that redundant, well it will be full circle for the DingleBerry app.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
