Skytex is a brand new company that delivered the best sub $100 tablet earlier this year, with the Skytex Primer Color. The company is in the midst of shipping out its latest offering the Skypad Alpha tablet. The big news today is that it just got a Android 2.3 update, that will be the OS loaded in the next batch of shipped tablets.
We are eagerly awaiting to get our hands on this one to give it a proper review but in the meantime it is a 7 inch tablet with a resistive touchscreen. The resolution is trucking along with 800×480, which does not seem that impressive from first glance. Underneath the hood its running a Freescale Cortex A-8 800 MHZ processor and has a paltry 512 MB of RAM. You can store up to 4 GB of books, media and content on this device and can expand it further via the MicroSD.
This tablet is a solid investment, with the cost only being $179.00. You can surf the internet via WIFI and use the front facing camera to Skype it up. The Skytex line of tablets certainly reads a myriad of formats for audio, video and ebooks.
Early adopters that have purchased this tablet already will be glad to know in a short period of time the company has issued the cutting edge of Android upgrades, which is a good sign.
