Those out to buy a tablet PC in the UK have just been provided with one more choice – the ViewPad 7 tablet PC from Viewsonic. The tablet had first seen the light of day back at IFA in August but is now ready enough to be pre-ordered. Currently, those who aspire to own the ViewPad 7 can place their orders at Misco while also keep aside the £399 that it has been priced at. The tablet cost works out to around $635 US which surely looks steeply priced though for consolation, there are other tablets more costly than the ViewPad. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy Tab which retails for an even higher £530. Shipping date has been fixed at November 15 beyond which there are likely to be a few more outlets like xpansys, Maplin and Scan that too might start carrying the ViewPad 7.
About the tablet itself, its one of the very few to have Android 2.2 right out of the box. Viewing area is made up of 7 inch of WVGA capacitive touchscreen with 800 x 480 pixel display, which though could have been a bit more. A 600MHz ARM11 processor too seems a bit on the lower side though might be just right for the task. System memory stands at 512 MB while other features the ViewPad comes with includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS, microphone out, integrated speakers, USB port, and a microSD card slot. The ViewPad also offers G-Sensor, E-Compass, as well as Ambient Light Sensor. The ViewPad comes with a twin camera setup, a VGA unit at the front along with a 3 MP camera at the rear.
Connectivity options with the ViewPad includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR while the SIM card slot allows for full 3G and phone functionality. The tablet includes a 3240 mAh battery which Viewsonic claims will be able to ensure 4 to 5 hours of continuous tablet operation. And lastly, another great reason to opt for the ViewPad is that it will have unrestricted access to the Android Market.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
