The Viwoods Aipaper E Ink Tablet has made its Kickstarter debut and has already been a runaway hit as well. It has garnered $75,240 within just a day and found 153 backers. With still 42 days to go, the funding it has secured is already several times more than the $4,996 that the makers had set out to achieve.
The Aipaper from Viwoods actually is a series of e-notes comprising two tablet devices – the Aipaper with a 10.65-inch display and the Aipaper Mini that comes with an 8.2-inch e-paper display. The 10.65-inch display is based on the latest E Ink Carta 1300 display and uses a flexible screen which is way more expensive and a lot more resilient against scratches and impacts, ensuring durability without compromising on clarity. The display offers excellent reading and writing experience thanks to its higher contrast and speed. The Aipaper Mini, on the other hand, continues with the traditional rigid glass screen construction.
The company said the two tablets have been in the making for two years now during which time they managed to reach the best possible hardware and software configuration that also boasts advanced AI capabilities. The goal has been to offer a device that lets users indulge in their creative passions with zero distractions, something that is taken to the next level with the integration of cutting-edge AI features.
Among the features the Aipaper series boasts of include analyzing content, creating summaries of it, organizing notes, providing answers to the questions posed to it, and handwriting and voice input support, to name a few. The makers are already calling it the smartest E Ink device currently available.
Coming to its specs, the E Ink display offers a 300 PPI resolution which translates to crisp and sharp visuals while still being soothing to the eyes. There is none of the glare or sleep-inhibiting blue light radiations usually associated with LCD or LED displays. The accompanying stylus will let you write or draw as you might need. It offers a very natural writing experience that closely mimics that of a real pen on paper. You will have two types of tips in the package, a smooth tip for higher-quality writing and another that is supposed to last long.
The makers said privacy and security have been prioritized right from the start. It is for this reason that Aipaper does not use cloud services. Rather, the 128 GB of storage onboard should be enough for most tasks. You can also sync your files to the AiPaper account on my.viwoods.com via the file management app ViTransfer that the e-note device comes pre-loaded with. However, files get stored at my.viwoods.com for only 24 hours to protect user privacy. Additionally, each document can be assigned a passcode for enhanced protection.
The company also outlined that data security is of paramount importance to them and has implemented the following measures in support of that.
AI Questions: You can choose to delete the conversation from the server immediately after exiting the AI conversation. The records are still stored locally on your Aipaper, where you can keep them for copying/sharing or delete them anytime.
ViTransfer File Synchronization: Synced files can be removed immediately from the Viwoods server after synchronization is complete. Otherwise, they are automatically deleted after 24 hours by default.
Automatic Titling: This feature analyzes content locally on your device, with no data sent to the cloud, ensuring privacy.
Local Safe File Storage: All notes are stored locally, with no enforced cloud sync, minimizing privacy risks.
Server Location: The company said their servers are located in the United States, using Amazon Cloud for secure data handling.
The Aipaper also boasts several advanced AI features such as ‘Generate an E-mail’. All you have to do is write some text that the AI will read and then convert it to an e-mail. You can always customize the same to include other details or modify the same before actually sending it.
Mention must also be made of the Calligraphy font that makes the writing look so very nice and special. The company stated there are going to be three more such fonts that are going to be added soon.
The Aipaper Mini offers the same features as its bigger counterpart. The only thing that sets it apart from the Aipaper is its size. With an 8.2-inch display, the Aipaper Mini is more compact and portable and is hence, easy to carry and handle. Buyers can choose from two display size options and pick the model that suits them best.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
