News Corp owners of the Wall Street Journal have decided to suspend subscriptions via its application for the Apple iPhone and Apple iPad. They decided to stop all new subscription sign-ups rather than let Apple take %30 of every new sign up.
If you have downloaded the Wall Street Journal application via the app store and want to subscribe to the publication you will have to call customer service or visit WSJ.com.
“We remain concerned that Apple’s own subscription [rules] would create a poor experience for our readers, who would not be able to directly manage their WSJ account or to easily access our content across multiple platforms,” a Journal spokeswoman said.
In related news, the Google Books app for IOS has returned to the Apple App Store minus the link to the website to buy books.
