At the beginning of the month we ran a poll that asked the question “What e-reader uses the best glowing display?” During the month of October, only three devices were released that allowed people to read in the dark. This was the Kobo Glo, Kindle Paperwhite, and Barnes and Noble Simple Touch Reader with Glowlight. There were over 539 people who cast their vote and today we will talk about the results.
Amazon Kindle Paperwhite – 283 Votes
The Kindle Paperwhite is currently the best e-reader out there in terms of ecosystem and hardware. Most people agree that it gives you the best glowing experience and the whitest display. Amazon currently offers over 1.6 million ebooks, newspapers, games, and a myriad of other content.
Kobo Glo – 220 Votes
In second place we have the latest device from Kobo! This e-reader is available in far more countries than the Paperwhite, and enjoys tremendous visibility. The glowing screen is currently the brightest in the class and the resolution of the screen allows for an excellent picture and font display.
Barnes and Noble Simple Touch with Glow Light – 31 Votes
In a distant 3rd place is the original e-reader that first developed glowing e-ink technology. It is almost a full year old now and pales in comparison to the competition. The e-reader itself is very affordable and fairly vibrant with the sheer amount of Nook eBooks available. The resolution and screen is really lackluster when you compare it to the Kobo or Kindle.
Make sure to cast your vote in our new poll! We ask “Should we do the Good e-Reader Show more often?” The poll is located on the right-hand sidebar.
