Rakuten Kobo discontinued the Libra 2 e-reader when the Libra Color came out in early 2024. Some people like the Libra 2 form factor since it has manual page-turn buttons, an excellent black-and-white e-paper screen, and solid battery life. Despite being over 3 years old, it is still relevant in 2025. Kobo has just released refurbished Libra 2 e-readers and is selling them to US customers directly on their website. Only the white color is available; the black one is sold out.
The Kobo Libra 2 features a 7-inch E INK Carta 1200 display with a resolution 1264×1680 and 300 PPI. It is front-lit and has a color temperature system for reading in the dark. It has a USB-C to charge the device and a respectable 1,500 mAh battery. You can connect to the Kobo Bookstore and Overdrive and access Pocket via WIFI. It has Bluetooth 5.1, allowing you to connect headphones to listen to audiobooks. This device is waterproof with an IPX8 rating so that it can be submerged in freshwater for up to 60 minutes and a depth of 2 meters.
