Kobo’s flagship e-reader is the Forma. This device has the largest screen ever made and also has Overdrive integration and also Dropbox, to access all of your ebooks stored in the cloud. There are two different storage variations, the 8GB model and 32GB. Many of Kobos global retailing partners in the United States, Canada and around the world are all sold out of the 32GB version and even Kobo’s own website has them marked as not available, with no estimated date in which they will be back in stock.
The Kobo Forma came out in late 2018 and should be due for a refresh sometime this year. It features a giant 8 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1440 × 1920 and 300 PPI. It using both an E INK Carta HD screen and also E INK Mobius, which makes it nice and light. This device has an advanced lighting system and packs 17 of them in this model, the most Kobo has ever employed in a single e-reader. You can adjust the white LED lights and also the amber ones.
I think the Kobo Forma is still very relevant and it would not surprise me if they replaced it in 2021, instead of 2020. Kobo does have a new e-reader on the horizon, the Nia, but this is an entry level device and not a premium one.
