Kobo has just added Apple Carplay integration for their app and it now allows drivers to listen to audiobooks while on the road. The audiobooks have to be downloaded to an iPhone beforehand, they cannot be streamed or downloaded via the infotainment system.
Kobo initially launched their audiobook store late last year. The platform has two different revenue models, one is a subscription that costs $12.99 per month in Canada and $9.99 in the United States. Customers will get one credit a month with their subscription and they can be redeemed for any audiobook title on the platform. You can also purchase Kobo Audiobooks individually and shop with confidence with their Price Match Guarantee. In addition, readers earn Kobo Super Points on their monthly subscription fees or audiobook purchases.
There are few options to listen to audiobooks with Apple CarPlay. Audiobooks.com was the first company that opened up their ecosystem and Audible followed suit soon thereafter. It is nice to see Kobo adding functionality for their own audiobook ecosystem.
