With the launch of the digital publishing revolution, there was no shortage of startups that emerged, promising to meet the customers’ publishing needs. Unfortunately, so many of these companies were cookie-cutter solutions, all offering essentially the same services–fixed layout, HTML5, formatting, distribution–that there was no distinguishing factor for too many of them. Some of the names that were making headlines only a few years ago have been bought, absorbed into other companies, or simply put out of business.
In order for companies to stay in business, they’ve had to adapt in an industry that is still changing. One such company who’s managed to evolve following its acquisition by the Copyright Clearance Center is Ixxus, who started out as a digital publishing and consulting option but has now morphed into an end-to-end solutions provider. With clients like Pearson and Cengage, the company is bringing content into the offer as well with the launch of the Ixxus Publishing Platform.
“The Ixxus Publishing Platform delivers much more than a content management system,” explained Renee Swank, VP of Discovery at Ixxus and product owner for the Ixxus Publishing Platform, in a press release. “By enabling content modeling, linking, and reuse, allowing users to repurpose existing assets to create new and targeted products. What that means for our clients is that they can speed time-to-market, drive new revenue opportunities, and get the most bang for their buck out of every digital asset.”
That time to market aspect is crucial to not only Ixxus’ ability to keep up in a changing publishing landscape, but also in terms of allowing their clients to keep up in their various industries.
“By allowing users to easily discover, reuse, and recombine existing content, the Ixxus Publishing Platform opens up the door to rapid product design and assembly,” added Ian Synge, Product Manager, “By simplifying and supporting reuse, IPP enables publishers to create tailored offerings for all of their target demographics – giving each audience a product that’s absolutely right for them.”
