The Alliance of Independent Authors and Kobo are staging a new event that will dive into the semantics of self-publishing via Writing Life. Mark Lefebre, Director of Self-Publishing & Author Relations at Kobo, and Orna Ross will be doing a Q/A on publishing in 2013.
This event will be occurring on January 23rd, 2013 at 4pm EST. They will be using the Shindig video service that will allow many people to connect up to video chat and allow users to ask them questions via text. They will discus Kobo’s policies and possibilities for self-publishers and how to use Kobo Writing Life to sell books through the retail partners in more than 70 countries.
In a few short years, Kobo went from an unknown company by the name of Short Covers to being one of the largest ebook stores in the world. Part of their success comes from the social media presence and dominating Twitter and Facebook. Authors and publishers alike will get some sage advice on what they can do to take advantage of various social components. Mark will mainly talk about “the various things Kobo is doing via our blog, Twitter, and Facebook to help promote authors, as well as the really cool contests we have held and will hold that help authors get access to cool services and prizes and opportunities. e.g our recent ‘win a cover design’ contest, our Book Doctors contest, and our newly announced Jeffrey Archer 100 Word Short Story challenge.”
