Archos has been very busy this year launching a slew of lower end tablet computers to try and satiate the thirst of many a tablet fiend. Models such as the Archos 9, Archos 5, Archos 7 and tons more. It looks like after a trip to the FCC the Archos 70b android driven e-reader is now available to pre-order for €99.99.
Right now the only e-Reader offering from Archos is this little unit, and the company currently has no plans to do a follow up for at least three or four months. The Android driven tablet will be running Google Android 2.1 and will NOT have access to the Google Android Market.
In terms of specs you are looking at a seven 7 touch screen device with a resolution of 800×480. It has WI-FI for the internet use, and around 4 GB of internal memory in which to store ebooks. No word yet on what e-Reader application will be on the device, or if Archos has partnered with anyone for their content delivery. Finally the battery life is expected to be around 10 hours of constant use, but used as a music player you can get 18 hours out of it, with the screen off.
