Audible has been running a series of promotions in a bid to become the dominant audiobook distribution platform of our time. The company is now giving away a free Kindle Basic when new customers purchase a one year subscription for $129.99. This deal gives you 12 credits as soon as you pay and it is only available for US customers.
A few months ago the Kindle Basic received a firmware update that enabled Bluetooth so you can plugin in a pair of wireless headphones or a speaker. Amazon also implemented an audiobook player and the Audible store, so you can buy and listen to audiobooks right on the device.
I think this is a good deal for someone who wants an extra Kindle in their life. This model retails for $79 and this means you are basically getting the yearly Audible subscription for $50.
