Well they are a NON-PROFIT U.S. book trade association with the mission of creating a more informed, empowered and efficient book industry. They are committed to the development of effective industry-wide standards, best practices, research and events related to both physical and digital products that enhance relationships between all trading partners. Lots of major companies deal with them such as; Adobe, Apex Covantage, BookNet Canada, Bowker, Copyright Clearance Center, Google, Hachette Book Group, HarperCollins, Ingram/VitalSource, International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF), John Wiley & Sons, MBS Direct, Newgen, Penguin Group US, Safari Books Online, Simon & Schuster, Sourcebooks, Taylor & Francis, and Zondervan.
