Open Road Integrated Media has partnered with the publishers of the widely successful Chicken Soup for the Soul series to digitize the popular essay books. Forty of the first 160 books in the series will be released today.
“The Chicken Soup for the Soul series is perfectly suited to our milestone marketing campaigns. Open Road is delighted to be the digital publisher for much of this beloved series, and we are eager to connect these titles with readers of all ages,” said Jane Friedman, CEO and co-founder of Open Road, in a press release.
One of the aspects of the “Chicken Soup” series that has made it so popular is the reader-created content each book contains. While the essays themselves can serve as inspiration to the readers, the series grew in readership as one of the only bestselling titles that the readers themselves submitted stories to.
“Open Road’s deep knowledge of digital publishing and marketing made this an easy choice for us,” said Bill Rouhana, CEO of Chicken Soup for the Soul. “With the name recognition and fan base already behind Chicken Soup for the Soul we are looking forward to bringing the Chicken Soup for the Soul message to millions of additional people through our ebook partnership with them.”
The “Chicken Soup” series lends itself well to ebook format as readers can read the short essays when they find themselves with a few minutes to spare, a habit that is much for convenient on an e-reader, tablet, or smartphone.
