Around the world, April is Autism Awareness Month. A number of campaigns such as the puzzle piece logo and the Light It Up Blue events highlight the press that autism awareness receives, but there are thousands of smaller-scale actions that people and companies take to let people know about the near-epidemic numbers behind this condition.
iStoryTime, creators of award-winning, bestselling enhanced ebooks for children, are offering a free giveaway of one of their most popular and beloved titles in honor of Autism Awareness Month. Meet Biscuit, based on the multi-million bestselling board book series, will be available for free between now and Sunday for Android and iOS devices.
Graham Farrar, founder of iStoryTime’s parent company zuuka, told GoodeReader about the importance of reaching out to the autism community with more than just kind words, but rather offering these individuals, especially the children, engaging and entertaining content that speaks to them in a way that they best understand.
“We believe the iPad and other digital devices are perfect tools to enhance the learning process for autistic children, so it’s only natural that we recognize Autism Awareness Month with one of iStoryTime’s favorite books,” said Farrar.
The Meet Biscuit app is available for free for a limited time, Wednesday, April 11 through Sunday, April 15, from the App Store on the iPad, iPhone or iPod touch and on the Amazon App Store and NOOK App Store.
