Yesterday’s kickoff of the first IndieReCon online authors’ conference brought some huge names to the virtual table, offering advice, dos-and-don’ts, tips, and more. The format varied greatly, with most of the content being delivered in timed posts by well-known professionals connected to indie authors. There were also video chats (available for replay) and Twitter chats using a variety of hashtags, depending on the topic.

The purpose of IndieReCon was to provide that much needed outlet of information, education, and community to indie authors without having to break the bank for people who are already possibly investing in their writing careers. And with speakers like Bob Mayer, Joanna Penn, SR Johannes, Darcie Chan, and Miral Sattar joining nearly 10,000 unique visitors throughout the day, yesterday’s first conference day was a resounding success.

Today’s schedule will include posts and chats by authors like bestselling Wool author Hugh Howey, Ali Cross, the team at Kindle Fire Department, the team from DuoLit, and more, focusing again on a wide variety of topics that affect self-published authors.

All of the content from yesterday’s conference day, along with the material that will be delivered throughout the day, will be available at indierecon.org for later reading or viewing. A second night of Twitter chat will take place tonight using the #indiechat hashtag, while tweets throughout the day will come from #indierecon. The complete schedule for today’s event is below, with each item becoming a hyperlink on the IndieReCon website as it becomes available in its designated time slot.
