Kobo has updated their Apple iOS today for the iPad and iPhone which enhances their Reading Life platform. You can now get recommendations from friends and also see what books they have read. It also allows you compare reading statistics and see what awards everyone has.
This new update to the Kobo application for all Apple devices is all about your friends. I really like the fact that you can now get recommendations from your friends and check out what books they are reading. Most of the time good friends have the same taste in literature, but new books might not come up in every conversation. This is a great way to take a gander at your friends’ reading lists at any time and feel inspired to make a purchase. Now if only Kobo would give friends discounts on recommended reads.
There are some other improvements to the application 4.5 as well such as; improved support for footnotes, and switching library shelves by swiping left or right with your fingers.
With the recent change to the iOS application, it will be interesting to see how often Kobo updates their firmware for the “Reading Life” aspect of their new Kobo Touch e-reader that we reviewed today.
