Softlink and Overdrive have formed a strategic partnership to bring an ebook lending service to Australia. The two companies will be offering a lending and borrowing content distribution service for schools and libraries.
Overdrive currently leads the eBook distribution and content management system for over 13,000 libraries in the USA. They have just partnered with Softlink to deliver ebooks, audiobooks, music, and video. Softlink has developed a large electronic infrastructure called the Oliver Library Management System (LMS).
One of the benefits that schools and libraries can enjoy under this new system is the fact that the schools provide you with your own website that is branded towards your system. They also provide 24/7 access to catalog information. LMS is accessed via the web to further increase the library’s information sharing ability.
Overdrive brings not only a wellspring of books and experience to the partnership, but all of the content offered is available to many different platforms. Currently, if you have a popular e-reader such as the Sony, Kobo, Aluratek, Pocketbook, or many Android devices, you are good to go. Obviously this system also supports all of the major computing operating systems.
Softlink is currently working with several schools that are using the Oliver LMS in conjunction with the OverDrive platform. OverDrive is available now to Australian schools for purchase, and can be integrated into any LMS.
